Hello! Kerry here, Delta's Digital Content Intern. I may be a rising junior, but that doesn't mean I don't remember my incredible orientation weekend when I first came to college. College orientation is a fun and exciting time for first year college students. First years are inundated with new rules, new sights, and new faces. An exciting way to inspire school spirit and integrate new students into the college community is with promotional college orientation giveaways.
As a current college student, I definitely had some ideas about which kinds of promo products incoming students would want and use. To obtain opinions outside of my own point of view, I created two surveys directed towards incoming, current, and recently graduated college students asking what types of promotional products they would like to receive or wish they had received during orientation activities.
Survey #1
We gave 100 college students and recent college graduates a list of popular promotional products to pick from. Here are the results of our survey:
Note: Students were allowed to select as many products as they wanted.
70% of college students said they wanted branded water bottles at their orientation event; it was the number one product choice! Custom printed T-shirts and USB drives were close behind. Some other notable products that students took a liking to were the logoed Smart Wallet at 45%, iPhone speakers at 43%, and earbuds in a case at 41%. 31% of college students or recent college graduates say they like the 25 oz. Aluminum Bike Bottle.
27% of college students or recent college graduates say they like the Poly-Clear 30 oz. Gripper Bottle.
We're not done yet!
Students made some insightful suggestions. In the survey, I gave respondents the option to enter in which promotional products not featured on the multiple choice list they would like to see as college orientation giveaways. Here are the top answers.
Hats
A handful of students mentioned logo hats as a giveaway of their choice. Look through our promotional hats & caps collection to find a style that would best suit your college orientation event. Students from our survey mentioned baseball caps, winter hats, and any kind of promotional hats.
Sweatpants & Sweatshirts
College students love watching movies while lounging around in sweatpants and sweatshirts - trust me! We got a couple of recommendations from survey respondents saying they wanted custom sweatpants and sweatshirts.
Laundry Bags
We had a couple of people mention branded laundry bags as a useful college orientation giveaway. This product is practical for students who have probably just moved into a new dorm and will need to carry laundry up and down flights of stairs.
Eco Friendly Products
A lot of my peers are dedicated to creating a healthier environment. Help students support the environment with eco friendly promotional items that don't damage the planet while promoting your brand.
