Each year, more than 20,000 people from the promotional products industry gather in Las Vegas for the PPAI Expo, hosted by Promotional Products Association International. The five-day event is the largest and longest-running promotional products conference in North America, and features a showcase of promotional products from more than 3,500 suppliers.
For our team at DMG, this annual event is an opportunity to discover promotional product industry trends, learn about new products and materials, and deepen our relationships with our suppliers and peers.
In addition to networking and exposure to thousands of promotional products, the PPAI Expo features educational sessions and speaker presentations. For 2020, DMG team members will be speaking at two sessions, to share our successes and how we're serving our clients better with our industry peers.
For the first time in 2020, Melinda Lathrop will be a featured presenter at the conference as well. Cathy and Melinda are each speaking to different aspects about the importance of conversational selling.
In 2019, our team saw the power of talking to leads and customers on their terms first-hand. That means both having a conversational style and being available to respond to questions in the appropriate format, whether it’s email, phone, or chat.

Breaking down conversational selling at the PPAI Expo in 2020
Conversations that Turn into Sales
Monday, January 13, 2020 - 9:30 a.m.
Presented by: Cathy Houston, Vice President
Most salespeople can agree that having a conversation with a prospect increases the likelihood that they’ll turn into a customer. But today, conversations take place through a variety of different channels.
In this talk, Cathy will share how to have productive conversations with prospects across different communication channels, and how each method aligns with the buyer’s journey.
The Secrets to Closing Sales Faster with Chat on Your Website
Monday, January 13, 2020 - 11 a.m.
Presented by: Melinda Lathrop, Senior Account Manager
If the only way customers can contact you is to fill out forms on your website or wait until business hours to call you, you’re basically turning away good potential customers who are already so motivated they came to your website. Today’s buying process is often too full of friction, but chat on your website can change that. With chat, you can make it easier for prospects to get the answers they need, have meaningful conversations, and shorten the sales process.
In this Learning Lab, Melinda will be assisting participants on how to prepare for the future of sales and conversational selling by showing them strategies and techniques to be successful with chat.
